FORENSIC PYSCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS: CONSIDERATIONS FOR CRIMINAL AND CIVIL ATTORNEYS
February 7 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
$15 – $40This CLE workshop is focused on the key area of forensic psychology practice: forensic mental health assessment (FMHA). FMHA refers to the process mental health professionals engage in when conducting evaluations for the courts or for attorneys who have retained them.
In this workshop, Dr. Pirelli will address the distinctions between the forensic and therapeutic roles of mental health professionals (i.e., forensic evaluators vs. treatment providers), and highlight the significant differences in which forensic psychologists approach and conduct evaluations as compared to clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, and psychotherapists. In addition, Dr. Pirelli will provide an overview of the types of criminal and civil psychological evaluations typically conducted by forensic psychologists at pre-trial, trial, and sentencing stages in criminal matters, and those in emotional damages contexts for civil (tort matters). For criminal contexts, such include but are not limited to those associated with evaluating Criminal Competencies, Criminal Responsibility (e.g., Diminished Capacity, Insanity), and Risk- Mitigation (incl. violence and sexual risk assessments). For civil contexts, such include Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, and Employment Harassment/Discrimination/Wrongful Termination.
This in-person seminar is approved for 2.5 NJ CLE credits.
