Membership Features and Benefits
A Bergen County Bar Association membership offers many opportunities to increase your professional as well as personal success. The association provides a forum through educational seminars and volunteer opportunities for Bergen County attorneys to enhance their practice, improve the justice system, and provide law-related community service. In addition, the BCBA provides social opportunities for lawyers from Bergen County to interact with members of the judiciary, political representatives and each other in enjoyable and informal settings.
Dues shall be assessed as follows
- DUES FREE – First year of admission
- $75.00 – Second, third or fourth year of admission
- $175.00 – Five years or more of admission
- $100.00 – Associate member
Types of membership
Active Members: Any person duly admitted to the practice of the law in the State of New Jersey who resides in or maintains an office for the practice of the law in Bergen County. or who shall have been an active member of the Association but who shall either have retired from active practice of the law, or shall be on active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States of America, may be admitted to membership in the Association as an active member.
Associate Members: Any person residing in Bergen County who is a law clerk or law student and intends to apply for admission to the Bar of this State; or any person who is a member of the Bar of the State of New Jersey, not qualified for active membership; or any attorney residing or working in Bergen County who is not a licensed New Jersey attorney but who is licensed in good standing to practice law in another state; or any attorney who is registered as inactive with the New Jersey Lawyer’s Fund for Client Protection. Associate members shall not have the privilege of voting or being officers or trustees of the Association.
